A new study shows the wage gap for women in Northwest Indiana is among the largest in the Nation.

Analysis of new census data for Indiana looks at severity of the state's wage gap for women and families.

The data released today shows that the gender-based wage gap affects women in every corner of the state. In fact, in every congressional district in Indiana, there is a gap between the wages of women and men. This is the first-ever analysis of these data by congressional district, providing a unique opportunity for Indiana’s women, families and lawmakers to consider the local impact of disparities in pay.

The analysis was conducted by the National Partnership for Women & Families.  It shows the median yearly pay for women in Indiana is $11,160 less than the median yearly pay for Indiana men, or 75 cents for every dollar. The gap in Indiana’s 1st District in Northwest Indiana is seventh largest in the nation; women there are paid just 67 cents for every dollar paid to men.
