Police in Hammond are asking the public's help in connection to a home invasion that reportedly left a family of four bound with duct tape, Thursday night. Police reports say around 9:30 pm a red Chevrolet Trailblazer pulled into the family's driveway in the 7800 block of Catalpa Avenue. Two men , one reportedly had a handgun, knocked on the door which a 10-year-old girl opened. Reports say when the mother came to the door, the two men reportedly forced their way into the home after which forcing the family into a back bedroom where they were bound with duct tape. Police say the intruders made off with cash, cell phones and other property but before leaving requested someone's phone number who they could call to come and release the family. No was injured during the incident. Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to call the Hammond Police Department's Detective Bureau at (219) 852-2906.
