Hammond Fire Investigation

Hammond Police are asking residents not to hesitate to call authorities regarding suspicious activity after a fire Sunday at the Stop and Go Liquors. Police Chief Brian Miller says the building, located on the 5600 block of Calumet Avenue, sustained serious damage due to the fire. Miller says the building has been a problem issue for sometime, with transients who frequent the establishment's parking lot allegedly creating a nuisance for the neighborhood, which in turn causes their office to regularly respond to calls there.
