The Munster Police Department sent out an alert this morning of a gas main leak in the area of Alta Vista and Crestwood. Police report a strong odor of natural gas in the area, especially to the east of this location. NIPSCO crews were responding and the fire department was on scene.  Munster Police say motorists should avoid the area until the leak is repaired.
