Your traditional police 'black-and-white' has gone green in Michigan City... Early this year Michigan City Police Sgt. Chris Yagelski proposed turning one of the city's “Think Electric Cars” into a squad car. It's more p-r car than patrol car, but it's completely outfitted with lights, sirens, and p-a and Sgt. Yagelski says he's already driven it numerous times. Sgt. Yagelski says he's often asked how fast does it go --- up to seventy mph --- how does it charge – it's electric, no gas, about a-hundred miles per full charge depending on how many accessories are used, and how can a guy 6'6" fit inside? Because it has no back seat, he says the vehicle can actually comfortably accommodate someone of that height. The car first hit the road this summer, and Sgt. Yagelski says he thinks it might be the only fully-marked Green police unit in the country.
