NW Indiana Gas Prices Down

Gas prices are down locally as well as statewide and around the country. According to new figures released by the U-S Energy Department, regular unleaded fell three cents in the past week to an average now of $3.82 a gallon nationwide. Oil analyst Tom Kloza says refinery output suggests the trend will continue. The cheapest gas is along the Gulf Coast at $3.54. Californians are still paying at $4.62 per gallon, but prices there have halted their climb. Gas prices in the Gary metropolitan area are averaging about $3.61 for a gallon of regular unleaded, down from about $3.79 a week ago, according to AAA, which says the statewide average is at about $3.65.
