Motorists will be able to utilize the new State Road 49 overpass at Vale Park Road beginning at noon tomorrow. Valparaiso Mayor Bob Costas says, “this project will last for many years and we wanted to take the opportunity to make it something we can be proud of.” INDOT spokesman Matt Dietchley says the bridge features a back-lit sign that says, “Valparaiso”, decorative lighting, and textured walls to resemble wind-swept dunes. Valparaiso's City Engineer Tim Burkman says seeding and fencing will be completed next spring, as they intend to dress up the gateway with low maintenance, native plantings to complement the surroundings, with the Valparaiso redevelopment Commission having agreed to provide funding for these enhancements. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11 tomorrow morning.
