82-year old Elaine ChenoreĀ of Merrillville has a big heart, especially when it comes to doing good for animals. Elaine has been raising funds to provide local fire departments with oxygen kits that can save the life of a family pet. Elaine says, If people need oxygen when rescued from a fire, then pets might need it too, and these special kits are designed to fit the mouth of an animal.
The kits have been given to various fire stations across Northwest Indiana. Elaine has been the primary supporter of the endeavor, with some help from organizations and individuals who have donated. Her dream is see fire departments across the country equiped with the animal oxygen kits, but for now, Elaine is working to make sure departments in Northwest Indiana are equipped.
If you are interested in helping Elaine provide kits to more fire departments locally, please contact your local fire department for details.
