Raise your hands if you've scrubbed them properly
The Soap and Detergent Association's 5th annual Clean Hands Report Card says Americans get a B-minus for hand hygiene this year, a full grade up from last year's barely-passing C-minus. Half of those polled reported washing their hands at least ten times a day, up 14-percent over last year. And -- 70-percent scrub up at least seven times daily, an 18-percent increase jump. However, nearly 40-percent admit they don't use soap and water after coughing or sneezing, and 46-percent lather for less than 15-seconds, both findings no better than last year.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a minimum of a 15-to-20-second soap and water wash to effectively sanitize hands.
