A New York-based charity says it is working to bring a group of five puppies to the Hoosier state. Paws of War, which is asking for donations of any size to help with this mission, says the litter was born on an active airfield but one day their mother disappeared and soldiers stationed there adopted them as their own. The nonprofit said they’re being cared for in a remote area of Africa and have had their vaccinations as they await the next step of their journey to bring them to the U.S. A news release says the soldiers who are each adopting a dog all live in Indiana, including in Schererville, Cloverdale, Roachdale, Nineveh, and Shelbyville. “In their hearts, they knew these dogs were put in their path for a reason,” the nonprofit said in a news release, “and they had to see a mission that would get them safely back to their home state.” Here is a link provided by the nonprofit: https://pawsofwar.org/?form=AfricaPups . Paws of War says it also focuses on giving back to veterans in various ways and has helped veterans with numerous issues, including suicide prevention, service and support dogs, companion cats and dogs, food insecurity, veterinary care, and more.
