In Lake County, the Humane Society of Hobart (HSH) announces a special free community pet vaccine and pet family resource clinic happening in New Chicago on Saturday, March 23, 2024. A news release from Humane Society of Hobart said it is teaming up with PetIQ, a pet medication, product, and wellness company, to host a free vaccine and pet family resource clinic in New Chicago, Indiana, on Saturday, March 23, 2024. The clinic will take place from 10 am to 2 pm at New Chicago Town Hall. At the clinic, pet parents will be able to receive core vaccinations for their pets as well as microchipping. Additionally, pet parents will be greeted by PetIQ and Humane Society of Hobart team members as well as students from Union Township in the nearby Wheeler area in Porter County and sent home with a bag of goodies including plush toys, pet food scoops, and pet food from the HHS food pantry. Pet parents are not required to RSVP for the event. When they arrive at the event with their pets, they will be organized into a waiting line so that their pets can receive services in a safe manner, the humane society said. The Humane Society of Hobart says Union Township Middle School students have been working with HSH since October to raise awareness and secure support for the shelter, including a student writing a letter to PetIQ reaching out to the company and requesting a donation of supplies for shelter pets.
