In Lake County, the Gibson Woods chapter of Wild Ones announces their 24th Annual Native Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Central Time. For the second year, the event will take place inside the large pavilion at Lake Etta County Park on West 29th Avenue in Gary, three blocks south and three blocks east of the Interstate 80/94 Burr Street exit. The nonprofit said the sale will feature well over 100 species of plants, grasses and shrubs – all native to the Midwest – and will be held rain-or-shine. For more information and a complete list of plants, visit the website at https://gibsonwoods.wildones.org/. Click Chapter Meetings & Events, then click on Annual Native Plant Sale. The event is the main fundraiser for the Gibson Woods chapter of the nonprofit Wild Ones Natural Landscapers and helps fund educational events and allows the organization to work with communities within Lake and Porter counties in establishing native plant pollinator projects, a news release said.
