In Lake Station, the Lake County Sheriff’s Department Dive Unit recently conducted a training session at Bicentennial Park. Officials say divers gained experience with searching along a guide line in murky water while sifting through debris. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department Drone Unit also participated in exercises on Sunday April 27, 2025, using a drone to transport a life jacket and other rescue equipment to divers in the water. A news release said this kind of training is crucial for river rescue and recovery operations in zero visibility water conditions. Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. sent out thanks to the police and civilian divers on the team for their continued dedication to support public safety.
