In Munster, the Lake County Highway Department is alerting Region motorists to an upcoming closure on 45th Avenue. The bridge carrying 45th over Hart Ditch will be closed to all traffic starting next week. Officials say the initial plan was to maintain one lane of traffic each direction, but upon partial demolition, advanced deterioration of the concrete and reinforcing steel was discovered and the safest way forward for the bridge replacement project is a full closure. The closure of 45th Avenue between White Oak and Southwood drives is Tuesday May 27, 2025, through October 2025, and Main Street will be used to detour traffic.
