Netflix has renewed My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman for two more seasons. The show, which debuted in 2018, features in-depth interviews with notable guests like Barack Obama, Tina Fey, Jay-Z, and more. The judge declared a mistrial on the rape charge in Harvey Weinstein’s retrial due to a juror’s refusal to continue deliberations following an alleged threat. The majority-female jury could not unanimously decide on the third-degree rape charge. Weinstein was convicted of one charge and acquitted of another. Prosecutors plan to retry Weinstein on the rape charge. (Variety)
A new drama produced by 50 Cent, set in the world of British boxing, has been ordered to series at Starz. Titled Fightland, the show focuses on redemption, betrayal, and ambition both in and out of the ring. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been renewed for a fifth and final season, announced by Paramount+ ahead of the third season premiere. The concluding season will consist of six episodes, differing from the previous ten-episode seasons. Bravo announced that Andy Cohen will host Watch What Happens Live through at least 2027. Cohen will also continue as executive producer and reunion host for The Real Housewives franchise. Disney and NBCUniversal have filed a lawsuit against AI company Midjourney for copyright infringement, accusing it of using their characters like Spider-Man, Darth Vader, and Elsa from Frozen for an AI image-generating service. The plaintiffs claim Midjourney made $300 million in revenue last year from 21 million users. Despite requests to stop, Midjourney continues to operate. (EW)
