In Lake County, east of Cedar Lake and Lowell, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is advising Region motorists that the 153rd Avenue bridge over Interstate 65 will be closed for bridge work beginning Monday, June 16, 2025. INDOT says 153rd Avenue will be closed between Mississippi Street and Iowa Street/Grove Road while bridge replacement work is ongoing thru mid-November 2025 and the official detour follows Clay Street, State Road 2 and State Road 55. Also during this project, there will be daytime lane shifts and overnight lane closures as needed on I-65 in the area. The first overnight lane closures are scheduled to occur during the hours of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025, through Friday, June 20, 2025. “Please be alert for changing traffic patterns on I-65,” INDOT said in a news release.
