In Valparaiso, Valpo Parks has announced a collaboration that it says marks a significant step forward in bringing a comprehensive indoor recreation and enrichment campus to the Valparaiso community. If the project continues as scheduled, Valpo Parks says it anticipates opening for Fall 2027. In a news release, Valpo Parks said it is partnering with Florida-based Sports Facilities Companies (SFC) to serve as the Owner’s Representative for the redevelopment of the former McGill Factory on Lafayette Street. As Owner’s Representative, the city says SFC will provide oversight and expertise throughout the proposed project, which envisions turning the 16-acre site, including the 225,000-square-foot industrial building, into a year-round hub currently being called the Valpo Recreation & Enrichment Campus.
“This partnership with Sports Facilities Companies is a testament to our commitment to delivering a world-class indoor recreational solution for Valparaiso,” said Kevin Nuppnau, Director of Valpo Parks. “Their extensive experience in developing and managing premier sports and recreation facilities aligns perfectly with our vision for Valpo REC. We are excited to move forward with a partner who will ensure this project progresses efficiently and effectively, ultimately creating a valuable community asset.” For more information related to the project, visit www.valpoparks.org/731/Valpo-REC .
