Storm cleanup was continuing in areas of northwest Indiana and the south suburbs in northeast Illinois after strong storms on Wednesday June 18 2025. Damage included trees and power lines down in La Porte and Wanatah. US 421 at US 30 in Wanatah was closed for a time that afternoon due to numerous downed lines and utility poles. Additionally, a Preliminary Storm Report from the National Weather Service Northern Indiana also says near Hanna a video shared by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Northwest showed a brief possible spin up tornado in a field north of US 30 and State Road 39, and no damage was seen in the video. In a social media post, La Porte County Sheriff’s Police said downed trees and power lines closed a number of roadways across central and southern La Porte County during the strong thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon.
