Lightning Safety Awareness Week 2025

The National Weather Service says National Lightning Safety Awareness Week is June 22-28, 2025. The National Weather Service Northern Indiana says the main goals are to promote awareness of the dangers of lightning and to encourage people to seek shelter when storms threaten. “When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors! Don’t wait to see lightning when a storm is approaching,” the weather service said on social media, adding that information on different topics, including the science of lightning and different types of lightning, are being shared daily on Facebook.
