In Cedar Lake, the Lake County Health Department says the community is invited to a day of community connection, essential services, and back-to-school support at the Lake County Community Day Health and Resource Fair. The event is scheduled for Saturday August 2, 2025, 9 am to 1 pm in the east gym of Hanover Central High School on West 133rd Avenue in Cedar Lake. The Lake County Health Department says over 40 local organizations will offer a wide range of resources, including basic health screenings, children’s vision and hearing screenings, bicycle helmet fittings and safety tips, and more. The announcement said there will also be a backpack giveaway featuring 600 backpacks filled with school supplies. The new school year begins in a few weeks.
