In central and northeast Indiana, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the next two sites for its worksite speed control pilot program known as Safe Zones. One resumes next month on Interstate 70 east of Indianapolis and the other is the Indiana Toll Road near Fremont. INDOT also said the current deployment on I-65 near Lowell will end upon the completion of construction, expected in mid-to-late September. “We’ve seen around a 70% reduction in excessive speeds within our current deployment sites,” said INDOT Commissioner Lyndsay Quist. “Creating safer conditions for both drivers and road workers is our goal, and lower speeds are a huge factor in that effort.” To learn more about Indiana Safe Zones, including active locations and answers to frequently asked questions, visit SafeZonesIN.com .
