In Illinois, the Lansing Municipal Airport has been named the 2025 Reliever Airport of the Year by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Division of Aeronautics. The Village of Lansing said the prestigious award underscores the airport’s pivotal role in enhancing regional aviation capacity and supporting the Chicago metropolitan area’s air traffic management. Village of Lansing Mayor Brian Hardy and Airfield Maintenance Supervisor Tom Gorski accepted the award Monday October 6, 2025, in Galena, Illinois, during the annual Illinois Public Airports Association fall conference.
