In Crown Point, the city is hosting a grand opening ceremony for the new Crown Point Skate Park. Crown Point broke ground on the project in October 2024, a park that’s been years in the making, with its design guided by feedback from the local skating community, a news release said. The community is invited to join the city for a ribbon cutting around 6:15 p.m. on October 15, 2025; Steamwhistle Coffee Roasters will be provided from 6-7 p.m. The new park is located on the south side of the Sportsplex on East North Street near the Sparta Dome. Park features include a 14,500-square-foot skateable area and a pedestrian entrance from the expanded Veterans Memorial Trail along U.S. 231. “We know the community has been anxiously awaiting the park’s grand opening. We’re excited to unveil this new, state-of-the-art amenity for everyone in Crown Point to enjoy,” said Crown Point Mayor Pete Land. The City of Crown Point says it received a $2.81 million grant from the Dean and Barbara White Family Foundation in 2023 to help fund the new skate park, as well as a revitalized Sauerman Woods Park, which re-opened to the community in August. “Without the Foundation, this project may not be a reality. We are so grateful for the White family’s continued support and generosity,” Land said.
