In Lake County, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says NIPSCO is closing State Road 51 between Central Avenue and Old Hobart Road in Lake Station for about three weeks starting on or after Friday, October 17, 2025. An advisory said the closure is for NIPSCO gas relocation work. The official detour will follow U.S. 20, State Road 149, and U.S. 6.
