In Valparaiso, the city is inviting the public to an open house to hear an update, review concepts and share input on a master plan for the development of the city’s east side, between 500 North / Burlington Beach Road and County Road 400 North / Vale Park Road, east of State Road 49. The open house is scheduled for Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at City Hall, on Lincolnway in downtown Valparaiso. The initial master plan, created by Browning Day, was put on hold after the cancellation of the sports park proposed by the City of Valparaiso in 2023, a news release said. The City of Valparaiso and Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission say they have re-engaged Browning Day to develop conceptual plans for the eastside area in conjunction with the extension of Memorial Parkway. Browning Day is an Indianapolis-based architecture firm specializing in transforming spaces into meaningful environments, and known for their collaborative approach and innovative design solutions, the city said. They have utilized a stakeholder group made up of property owners, elected officials, commission members, school board representatives and city staff to guide the development of land uses and transportation infrastructure conceptual options.
