In Northwest Indiana, The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America says it has officially chartered Carpenters Local Union No. 2950, uniting thousands of skilled men and women across Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Starke, and Pulaski Counties under one banner. Local 2950 is an affiliate of the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters, representing professional carpenters, millwrights, and pile drivers who build and maintain infrastructure in the Region, including industrial, commercial, and institutional projects. Under the agreement, Carpenters Local 2950 unites Locals 599, 1005, and 1485. “This Local was built on one simple idea — that the carpenters of Northwest Indiana deserve a unified, modern, and relentless organization that fights for local work, fair wages, and respect on every job,” said John Carr, President of Carpenters Local 2950. “We’re setting the standard for what a 21st-century trade union should look like — disciplined, strategic, and proud of where we come from.” Local 2950 also said it is committed to investing in its regional building trades programs and expanding opportunities for young men and women pursuing skilled careers in construction. “This is about legacy,” Carr added. “From our industrial roots on the lakefront to the new technologies driving construction forward, Local 2950 will carry the banner of professionalism and pride that makes Northwest Indiana labor second to none.”
