In Crown Point, the city is unveiling the expansion of the Veterans Memorial Trail during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025. Crown Point Mayor Pete Land will deliver brief remarks during the event, which will take place in the bike trail’s new parking lot located at Sheridan and Porter streets. The City of Crown Point broke ground on the project in April and the approximately one-mile expansion follows the old Pennsylvania Railroad in Crown Point, connecting to the Erie Lackawanna Trail on Summit Street. In addition to the expanded trail, the city also completed intersection improvements at Main and Summit streets in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Transportation and at Indiana and North streets, which included pedestrian signals at new crosswalks. The city also constructed a 26-stall parking lot near the new trail. The nearly $1.347 million project was funded by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources through its Next Level Trails program, a news release said. “We know everyone is excited to see more connectivity on our bike trail. No matter the season, cyclists, walkers and runners are using our trails,” Mayor Land said. “We hope this expansion will mark the beginning of further connectivity in our Region.”
