In La Porte County, INDOT Northwest says U.S. 35/Indiana Avenue in La Porte reopened last Friday December 12, 2025, after work this year that included reconstructing the intersection of U.S. 35 and Kingsbury Avenue/Woodlawn Drive, as well as outfall utility work. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) said road reconstruction between the north end of this year’s project area and State Road 2/ Lincolnway in La Porte will occur in 2026, which will result in phased closures on U.S. 35 as work progresses northward that may begin as early as mid-February 2026 if weather allows. Motorists are also advised to be alert for crews that may be on site between now and then as well. INDOT said due to the short timeframe that U.S. 35 will be open for thru-traffic, the detour of U.S. 6, State Road 39 and State Road 2 remains in place for truck traffic.
