In Lake County, Ivy Tech Chancellor John Gipson recently welcomed bp Whiting Refinery Vice President Chris DellaFranco to campus to celebrate bp’s $30,000 gift to the Career Exploration and Readiness initiative in the Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, and Applied Science program. A news release said this support helps students in industrial technology, welding, machine tool, and process operations at Ivy Tech’s East Chicago/Lake County location by covering tuition, books, fees, transportation, event supplies, apparel, and meals. Thanks to partnerships like this, officials say, over 950 students have joined process operations courses since 2007.
