UPDATE: Humane Indiana Wildlife says their special Groundhog Day event originally set for Saturday January 31, 2026, at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond is being postponed due to inclement weather. The nonprofit says the event will instead be held on Saturday February 7, 2026, and all other event details will remain the same.
In northwest Indiana, Humane Indiana Wildlife’s Groundhog Day Celebration, helping local wildlife in need, will be at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond. The event includes educational presentations like groundhogs in Indiana and mammals in winter. There will also be vendors and food trucks. The event supports lifesaving rehabilitation, medical care, and public education for native wildlife.
