In Chesterton, the Duneland School Corporation says Superintendent Dr. Chip Pettit will be leaving at the end of the 2025-26 school year to become Superintendent of Hinsdale Township High School District 86 in Illinois. Dr. Pettit came to the district in 2019. The Duneland School Corporation says the list of accomplishments during his leadership includes redistricting of grade levels K-through-8 that coincided with a massive renovation and construction project to modernize school buildings; also, increased college and career opportunities for students through the expansion of Advanced Placement and dual credit courses. “It has been my honor to serve the Duneland community. I am proud of our shared accomplishments and the unwavering commitment to student success that defines this community and school corporation,” said Dr. Pettit in the news release.
