In Gary, U. S. Steel says it plans to restart the Tin Mill at Gary Works. The announcement said the restart, expected to occur in early 2027, is intended to provide greater access to reliable, American made tin mill products. It is expected to support about 225 jobs at Gary Works, the company’s largest manufacturing plant. U.S. Steel said products produced in Gary will be used in various applications, including food and beverage packaging, aerosol products, oil filtration goods, and other markets.
