In Hammond, Purdue University Northwest Tuesday August 4 2026 held a ribbon cutting for their newest dorm. Construction had been underway at the northeast corner of 173rd Street and Woodmar Avenue since April 2025 on Calumet Hall. PNW says the name celebrates the geographic and cultural heritage of the Region, home to the Grand Calumet and Little Calumet rivers. PNW, which has campuses in Hammond and Westville, says the building, its third residence hall, will provide 150 beds, a common kitchen, laundry facilities, student study areas, and a student lounge.
In downstate Bloomington, Indiana University this summer announced plans to modernize Willkie Quad. IU says it will invest $60 million in a major renovation of the 752-bed Willkie Quadrangle residence hall, which was built in 1965 and last renovated in 1998. The university says the project will include upgrades to student rooms, shared spaces, and bathrooms, along with improvements to elevators and mechanical systems.
