In Wheatfield, 4th graders at Kankakee Valley Intermediate School recently embarked on a journey into the world of 3D printing with a very specific goal: creating custom whistles for their recess supervisors, a classroom project the school corporation says blended computer science, engineering, mathematics, and community service. School officials say Mr. Mazur’s students learned the entire 3D printing process from the ground up, resulting in a “fleet of freshly minted, fully functional whistles, custom-made by the students to show appreciation for the adults who keep the playground safe and fun every day”, a news release from Kankakee Valley School Corporation said.
