The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana has launched its annual “Return to Learn” match campaign which coincides with the start of the school year. The month-long initiative challenges each of the organization’s nine Clubs to raise funds for nearly 8,500 Club kids across the region. A news release said thanks to the generosity of the University of Chicago Medicine, every donation made during the campaign will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000. Last year’s campaign raised nearly $212,000 dollars. Online donations will be accepted September 1-30, 2025. The Greater NWI Clubs are Cedar Lake, Duneland, East Chicago, Gary, Hammond, Lake Station, Portage, South Haven, and Valparaiso.
“We are proud to be part of the Northwest Indiana community, serving patients at our multispecialty facility in Crown Point and standing alongside organizations like BGCGNWI that are making a lasting difference for young people and families,” said Krista Curell, President of UChicago Medicine Northwest Indiana and Chief Operating Officer for the University of Chicago Health System. “Investing in children’s education, health and future success is one of the most meaningful ways we can support this community, and we are honored to be part of that effort.”
“The Return to Learn campaign is a powerful demonstration of our commitment to nurturing the scholars and leaders of tomorrow,” said Mike Jessen, President and CEO at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana. “We are profoundly grateful for the dedicated partnership of The University of Chicago Medicine, the tireless efforts of our Club staff, our Club Resource Councils, many volunteers, and every business and individual donor. It takes all of us working together to build a safer, stronger future for our kids. Now more than ever, the region needs Club kids, and Club kids need you.” There’s more information at bgcgreaternwi.org/returntolearn .
