Fall Bird Migration Underway, Millions Flying Across Indiana

A social media post Wednesday September 24 2025 by Indiana Audubon said nighttime skies above the Hoosier state would be full of migrating birds, millions of them, Wednesday night (September 24 2025) last night (September 25 2025), and tonight (September 26 2025). Everyone is asked to turn off non-essential outdoor lights from 11 pm to 6 am to help birds be safe and stay on course during their travels. Tuesday night (September 23 2025), reports say 376-million songbirds flew south from Canada and Minnesota into the Midwest overnight on their fall migration.
