In Region business news, a new report says U.S. Steel has a $1.8 billion impact on the Hoosier state while supporting more than 8,400 jobs statewide. The company recently released the findings of its first-ever economic impact report for Indiana, demonstrating its role in advancing the state’s economy, workforce, and communities. The analysis done by Parker Strategy Group looked at Fiscal Year 2024. In a release, Gary Works Vice President Dan Killeen said the partnership with Nippon Steel that occurred this year, “will modernize an American icon” and, “Combining U. S. Steel’s expertise, workforce and legendary footprint with Nippon Steel’s world class technology will accelerate transformation in Indiana and across the organization – leading to another century of impact on the local economy.” Gary Works, which opened in 1908, is U.S, Steel’s largest manufacturing facility.
