Drought conditions are improving in the Hoosier state somewhat. The latest update Thursday March 19, 2026, from the U.S. Drought Monitor continues to show Severe Drought in areas of the northern half of Indiana, and some areas of Extreme Drought including parts of Tippecanoe and Carroll counties. Locally, southern Newton, Jasper, and Pulaski counties remain in Moderate Drought, with Abnormally Dry conditions continuing to the north up to a little south of the Kankakee River.
