In Lake County, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) hosted a hearing on a proposed road project on U.S. 41 between St. John and Cedar Lake. The plan is to construct a Two-Way Left-Turn Lane along U.S. 41 from U.S. 231 to south of West 133rd Avenue in Lake County to improve safety in that corridor. In order to establish the new two-way left-turn lane, INDOT says U.S. 41 will be widened in both directions throughout the length of the proposed construction area. The public hearing on current preliminary design plans was held at Hanover Central High School in Cedar Lake March 23, 2026. Here is a link for more details on the project, and here is a link to the livestream posted on INDOT’s YouTube channel.
