In Valparaiso, the Porter County Animal Shelter says one of the largest and longest-running animal care events in Northwest Indiana is making a comeback. The Be Kind to Animals Pet Expo is returning Saturday May 9, 2026, 10am to 4 pm, and will be at the Porter County Expo Center at State Road 49 and Division Road. The event will feature local rescue groups, vendors, and more. Donations will also be accepted for the pet food pantry, and resources will be available for those in need.
