Crown Point Police Officer Brandon Norris was recognized as the State of Indiana’s School Resource Officer (SRO) of the Year during an awards ceremony on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Norris, who is the resource officer at Taft Middle School, also was named the SRO of the Year for Region 1, which includes Jasper, Lake, Newton and Porter counties.
“We are proud of Officer Norris for achieving this incredible accomplishment. He is an invaluable member of our team, and his dedication to our youngest community members extends beyond the call of service,” said Crown Point Police Chief Ryan S. Patrick. “He is an outstanding officer and great representation of not only our force, but the Crown Point community as a whole.” Norris joined the department in September 2022 and became an SRO in 2023. He began his law enforcement career with the Highland Police Department in 2005.
“Officer Norris is an asset to Taft Middle School in so many ways. His positive presence and the supportive relationships he builds with our students and staff help make Taft an amazing place,” said Taft Middle School Principal Tracy Seibert. “His dedication to our school community extends beyond just the basics of safety. I cannot imagine another individual more deserving of this award.”
