In Hebron, Northwestern Indiana Telephone Company (NITCO) has announced the passing of its owner Rhys Mussman. They said the torch now passes to the fourth generation of the Mussman family, his three daughters. This is not the first time NITCO has faced such a transition. Following the passing of Bob Mussman, Rhys’s father, in 1998, the company continued under family leadership. Additional information regarding memorial arrangements will be shared by family when available, the company said.
“There are no plans to sell NITCO,” said Tom Long, President of Northwestern Indiana Telephone Company. “It will be business as usual for our customers and employees. We remain focused on providing the exceptional service our customers have come to expect while continuing to invest in the future.” A news release said customers, employees, business partners, and the communities NITCO serves can be confident that the company’s strategic direction, daily operations, and commitment to reliable communications services remain unchanged. As part of that commitment, NITCO said it is exploring opportunities to accelerate investment in its communications infrastructure, expanding fiber broadband capabilities, and delivering higher internet speeds.
“Rhys will be sorely missed, but I am also excited about what lies ahead,” Long said. “I will continue to keep our employees, customers, and communities informed as we move through this transition together.”
