Porter County Household Hazardous Waste Final 2026 Collection and New Separate Event

The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County says their last Household Hazardous Waste Collection of the year is Saturday, October 10, 2026, 9am-2pm CT at Neighbors Educational Opportunities Building on U.S. 6 in Portage. The district says the FREE event helps Porter County residents to properly dispose of hazardous waste that can be found in your home – like cleaning supplies, oils, chemicals, fertilizers, and more which can pose significant risks to ecosystems and wildlife if not handled correctly. Visit PorterCountyRecycling.org for the full list of items that are accepted and items that are not. The district also said they are NOT accepting latex paint or tires at the October 10th collection – however, there will be a special recycling event that’s only for latex paint and tires October 17, 2026, at the Porter County Expo Center. Fees may apply for tires. Visit PorterCountyRecycling.org or the district’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RecyclePorterCounty  for more details.
