Lake and Porter counties have gotten the go-ahead on putting bird feeders back up. Most already had the okay; this past Friday the Indiana DNR announced it had lifted its recommendation for Indiana residents to refrain from feeding birds in all counties. In the spring, reports of sick and dying songbirds started coming in. National wildlife avian disease experts and other scientists continue to look into the mystery bird disease reported in Indiana and other states. The DNR thanked Hoosiers, saying their actions helped staff track the disease, detect regional differences, and provide updated recommendations for feeding birds. Here is a link for more information.
