California Veterinarian Named CNN’s 2023 Hero of the Year

In California, a San Diego veterinarian has been named CNN’s 2023 Hero of the Year. Along with working at a San Diego animal clinic, Dr. Kwane Stewart, the founder of the nonprofit Project Street Vet, walks through area streets to care for pets who live with their homeless caretakers. The top ten finalists for CNN’s Hero of the Year including Dr. Stewart each win $10,000. As the hero, he wins another $100,000 and in his acceptance speech he said he’s sharing that money with all the finalists. His speech can be viewed at CNN’s website. Street vets volunteer their time throughout Southern California and other cities across the country.
